Nick commenced his loss adjusting career as a trainee Loss Adjuster with McLaren Dick and Co in 1988 based in Hull UK. Over the years he has adjusted a wide range of commercial claims across many business sectors including, Hotels, food and drink, defence, retail, pulp and paper both in the UK and abroad.
 
In 2000 Nick moved to an international Insurance broker and worked as a Claims Consultant / Account Executive where he managed a number of blue chip accounts and handled claims that emanated out of the Bunsfield explosion before returning to adjusting in 2009 in an international liaison role based in London. 

Since January 2011 he was the Country Manager and Director responsible for a prominent global loss adjusting company based in the Bahamas before founding Caribbean Loss Adjusters Ltd in April 2016. He has extensive experience in managing all types of claims across the Caribbean.

Andrew Brown - Executive Director

Andrew has lived and worked throughout Latin America and the Middle East (Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico and UAE) since 1995 following initial loss adjusting experience in the UK.  Spanish and Portuguese speaker, having handled diverse losses in Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico as well as other islands in the Caribbean.


Andrew has handled a wide portfolio of losses including Property All Risks, Machinery Breakdown, CAR/EAR for local and international Insurers and Reinsurers.  Also managed oil and other hydrocarbon pollution losses in Central and South America and Africa, as well as claims involving power utility equipment and machinery. Other product lines include Jewellers Block and Specie, Financial Institutions, Commercial Crime, Ports and Terminals, Casualty and Contractor’s Plant and Equipment.

In addition to over three decades as a chartered loss adjuster, Andrew is also a qualified marine surveyor (commercial craft and cargo) having been awarded the Professional Qualification in Cargo & Commercial Craft Marine Surveying. 


Andrew is one of our “CAT” Coordinators having worked on numerous hurricane, earthquake and flood events over the years.

Originally from Canada, Sherry has worked at a senior level in various industries including media, e-commerce, pharmaceuticals and market research.


Sherry is responsible for all Claims Administration at Caribbean Loss Adjusters including client communications, accounts and database management.  Sherry is the Creator and Manager of our exclusive Claims Management app which is invaluable in managing major loss events and communicating all aspects of the claim to both our Adjuster Teams and Underwriters.

Steven Seargent - Associate - The Caribbean

ACII, CIRM
Since 2016 when he joined the Caribbean Loss Adjusting Ltd team, Steve Seargent has built extensive experience in managing catastrophe claims across the Caribbean.  He now combines this and his previous experience and expertise to our Middle East office. 

Following a period in in the South African Police, Steve began loss adjusting as a trainee Loss Adjuster with Scott Walley & Associates later Graham Miller in 1980 based in South Africa and Botswana. After emigrating to the UK in 1990 where he worked with Fishers and McLarens Toplis Loss Adjusters as a liability adjuster, he worked in the Caribbean with Axis Loss Adjusters and later returned to the UK to Scotland with Crawford Loss Adjusters and Merlin managing their Highland Operations.  Over the years he has dealt with a large portfolio of large commercial losses ranging from boiler explosions, large industrial fires, chemical spillages, hotel fires and Corporate Liability claims in the Middle East, the UK and the Caribbean. 

In 2010 Steve moved to an international Insurance broker based in Glasgow and worked as a Claims Controller where he managed the property and liability claims for a number of large entities including one of the “Old Firm” football teams in Glasgow as well as providing Risk Management services.

Adrian Burbage - Associate - Quantity Surveyor  
The Bahamas

Adrian commenced his career as a trainer Quantity Surveyor while located in London, UK in the early 1970’s.


Having qualified as a Chartered Surveyor he worked for owners and general contractors throughout the London area. In 1985, he relocated to Nassau Bahamas, and became the Chief Estimator of a family Construction Company.


Following a brief 3 years back in London in 1995 working as a Commercial Manager for a railway company, he returned to the Bahamas to head up the construction cost control department working on a 1,400 room hotel in Freeport.


Over the last 20 years, he has worked in many of the Bahamian islands and also in the wider Caribbean region for a number of owners, contractors and insurance companies, ensuring the scope of the work and the cost associated with this remain within budget. 


Adrian  joined Caribbean Loss Adjusters Ltd as an Associate in April 2016 working as Quantity Surveyor and Adjuster on during the 2016-2017 hurricane seasons.

Ewan Tough - Associate - Quantity Surveyor
The Bahamas

Ewan is originally from Scotland and has been living and working in the Bahamas since 1983. 


Ewan earned his Degree in Quantity Surveying (DQS) at Dundee College.  He then was appointed as a Member of the Royal Institute of Quantity Surveyors (ARICS, now MRICS)


 He has worked both for large building companies, on exclusive projects and in his own private practices in Scotland, Nigeria and The Bahamas. 

Ewan's experience in the islands is an invaluable asset to the Caribbean Loss Adjusters service offering.

She further holds a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the West Indies and an Associate in Claims (Inclusive of Property Casualty Claims) from the Insurance Institute of America.


Further, Ms. Boodoosingh is an accredited Fellow of the International Federation of Adjusting Associations and a full Member of the International Institute of Loss Adjusters and has as well completed the Certificate in Marine Insurance provided by the Lloyd’s Maritime Academy.


Additionally, Ms. Boodoosingh lectures/facilitates a variety of programmes for the Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Institute.

Mr. Mahabal has worked in the insurance industry within Trinidad and Tobago for over 21 years. Mr. Mahabal holds an Associate in Claims (AIC) (including the prescribed examinations in Property Casualty Claims) from the Insurance Institute of America. 


In addition, he is also the holder of Certificate Level, Diploma Level and Advance Diploma Level accreditations in Administrative Management and has pursued and successfully completed Architectural Drawing, Structural Design for Non-Structural Engineers, Construction Cost Estimating, Construction Technology and Industrial Electrical Installation programs.

Claudius J. Francis, has worked throughout the Caribbean, more especially in Trinidad & Tobago, Dominica, Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada and his native Saint Lucia, since 1982.  

 

He has handled a varied portfolio of losses for regional insurers and reinsurers and is especially adept at liability issues. He has adjusted at least five (5) major hurricane losses and several earthquakes throughout the region.

Paul Connelly - Group Legal Counsel

Paul is a specialist Insurance Solicitor with over 20 years experience working on the city of London and offshore. He has extensive experience of working in Caribbean jurisdictions across all lines of business. He was admitted to the Bahamas Bar as an Associate Solicitor.


Paul conducts medical malpractice work for hospitals and practitioners ranging from invasive to non-invasive surgery and infection work. He has advised and supported hospitals in Europe as well as offshore in their search for insurance cover and has given risk management advice and support for clinical and non clinical issues.


Paul organises and provides audits of clinical and non clinical practice, regulatory support, and remediation support for those clinics and medics under regulatory inquiry. He is able to give practical advice in connection with treatment consents, managing pre clinical expectations and advising upon claims mitigation. Paul believes advice and assistance in a pre claims environment is key to claims minimisation and cost reduction.


Paul has restructured law firms and in-house departments and has established legal practices in several territories and has managed as well as conducted cross border litigation arbitration and mediation as well as giving claims advice and support.

Andrew is originally from the UK but relocated to the Bahamas in the mid 80s where he is a permanent resident, but has maintained strong ties to the UK. He holds a Bachelors of Engineering in Naval Architecture and Small Craft Design,  from the University of Strathclyde and is a fully elected member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects. 


Andrew specialises in small craft and has extensive experience in insurance surveying, pre-purchase surveys and damage assessments. He consults on remediation work and project managing repairs and yard work.
